Help Solve World Hunger

8 million people die annually from hunger and malnutrition. An even greater “800 million people in the world suffer” from it each moment of each day (Thinkquest Library).

World hunger is not an aberration not immutable. It is a solveable problem that requires funds, food, and the willingness to help.

Free Rice is a website that has existed for some time to address a possible solution. All you have to do is choose the right synonym (or antonym if asked) out of four multiple-choice possibilities of a presented word. For every correct answer, Free Rice’s sponsors — the ad banners at the bottom of the page — will donate 20 grains of rice to the hungry around the world.

The words are not, in my opinion, very difficult for the most part and DO repeat. You will learn something in the process of helping another human being who very much needs it.

When I first tried out the site a few months ago, I didn’t know if it did actually donate to the hungry or profit more than it gave. The NBC News tonight confirmed that the site is legitimate. Free Rice was created by a man who wanted to help his son improve SAT vocabulary for a good cause.

A Link to Free Rice is permanently on my sidebar under “Causes.” Please do visit the site as it takes very little time but has very beneficial results.

Save the world today.
